Odon's #2: 'People of the Book' in 4:171 only Jews?

Someone commented that the Nassarenes, who are the 'People of the Book', can't just be referring to Jews, since the passage in Surah 4:171 is clearly referring to Christians, as it admonishes them not to refer to god as 3, something which doesn't pertain to any Jews. Odon argues that in order to know who this passage is referring to one has to look at all of the references in the Qur'an which talk about 'The People of the Book', and in every case they are all pointing only to the Jews. In the instance of Surah 4:171, he says, we find the word 'inama' in Arabic, which is translated as 'only', but one should really be translating it as 'verily'. If you look at the whole verse Odon says, you will find that it is warning the Jews that Jesus is merely the Messiah, the son of Mary, so stop saying he is 3, stop saying he is the 'son of God', and stop giving him divinity. That is why Odon believes this verse is referring only to the Jews, though Jay disagrees and thinks it is referring to the Christians, the ones who truly believe Jesus is 'one of three'.
