1 John 5:18-20 Sin is Not Who You Are

John says whoever is born of God does not sin—not as a guilt trip, but as a declaration of your new default setting. You were not wired to sin. That's not your identity anymore. Yes, we battle sin—but there's a difference between struggling with something and that something being who you are. John also reminds us that while we are of God, the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one. This isn't meant to frighten you, but to sober you.
