Speaker's Corner with Rob from Australia on Scientific & Historical Errors in the Qur'an!

On June 8, Jay went to Speaker's Corner to help new speakers try their hands at speaking from the ladder in front of a "hostile crowd". Rob, from Australia was one of those who wanted to try his hand on the ladder. It was his first time to ever do so. He is a scientist, so he had some scientific questions to ask the Qur'an, which he finds is quite un-scientific. He went through 5 difficulties which he found in the Qur'an concerning both science and history. 1) The story of Iblis and Adam both being in heaven was the first that he looked at. 2) He then went to the problem of Noah and the water's of the earth, and where they came from 3) Following this he referred to the Qur'anic account of Abraham being thrown into the fire 4) From there he looked at the Egyptian Pharaoh, Rameses, and whether he died or not during the Exodus 5) Rob then concluded with the problem of the lunar calendar equaling one exact year. Rob noted that all of these stories either were not scientific, or were historical anachronisms borrowed from other man-made traditions and folktales, suggesting that the Qur'an could not be eternal, or from Allah, but was merely borrowed and put together over a period of centuries by finite men like you and me.
