Joseph of Arimathea Buries Jesus – The Stone Is Rolled Across the Tomb

After the crucifixion, Joseph of Arimathea tenderly places the body of Jesus into his own newly hewn rock tomb. He rolls a massive stone across the entrance while Mary Magdalene and the other Mary watch in mournful silence. The next day, the chief priests and Pharisees, still fearing Jesus’ words about rising again, go to Pontius Pilate and request that the tomb be made secure. The priests and soldiers go to the tomb, seal the stone with an official Roman seal, and set a strict watch through the night.
