You Knew To Stay In That Moment And You Moved On Anyway

There is a moment in worship where something in you knows to stay. And you move on anyway because you have three more songs and a 45 minute slot. Every worship leader reading this knows that moment. You felt it. You chose the plan over the prompting. And the service finished on time and something was left on the table. That is one of three patterns I keep seeing come up in worship leaders who are technically excellent but spiritually disconnected from what they are doing. Leading based on what the room gives back rather than what God is saying. Performing a conviction they are not currently carrying. And holding the set so tightly there is no room for anything to shift. None of these are talent problems. They are formation problems. And they all have the same root. What is happening in private is no longer feeding what is happening in public. Sensitivity is a skill. But it needs space to develop. And a worship leader running on a packed schedule with no private altar has no space to develop anything.
