From Failure to Abundance: Jesus’ Breakfast by the Sea of Galilee

After His resurrection, Jesus revealed Himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias. Simon Peter, Thomas, Nathanael, the sons of Zebedee, and two others went fishing all night but caught nothing. At dawn, Jesus stood on the shore (though they did not recognize Him) and called out, “Children, have you caught anything to eat?” They answered “No.” Jesus told them, “Cast the net over the right side of the boat and you will find something.” They did, and suddenly the net was filled with so many fish they could not pull it in. The disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” Peter immediately jumped into the sea and swam to shore. When they landed, they found a charcoal fire with fish and bread already prepared. Jesus said, “Bring some of the fish you just caught.” Simon Peter dragged the net ashore — full of 153 large fish — and the net was not torn. Jesus invited them, “Come, have breakfast.” He took the bread and fish and gave it to them. This was now the third time Jesus was revealed to His disciples after being raised from the dead.
