Are you living for temporary recognition, or eternal reward? James was one of Jesus’ closest disciples — yet even he misunderstood the mission at first. He once asked for a position of honor, thinking Christ came to establish an earthly kingdom. But over time, James came to see that God’s Kingdom is eternal — and far greater than political power or personal status. In the end, James became the first of the disciples to be killed for his faith. He traded ambition for surrender. Position for obedience. Earthly glory for eternal purpose.
