Webinar: "What is Christian Hope?" (No Q&A)

Recorded on July 13, 2020, Dr. Glenn Packiam shares insights from his research on Christian hope. The session begins with a look at hope from the cognitive and affective (emotional) perspectives, and then moves to the philosophical to explore hope as both a virtue and an act. Packiam then surveys the hope of the early church and how it is codified in the Nicene Creed. The eschatology of contemporary theologians, Jurgen Moltmann and N. T. Wright, is synthesized into six overlapping views with three points of differentiation. Finally, Packiam provides a robust working definition of Christian hope, and demonstrates how this differs from progress, escape, and a return to Eden.
