One of the most sobering passages in the Bible is Luke 16. In Jesus' account of the rich man and Lazarus, the rich man finds himself in torment and begs for even a drop of water to cool his tongue. He also begs for someone to go warn his family so they do not end up in the same place. That is why this topic matters so much. Jesus spoke about hell more than many people realize, not because He wanted to scare people, but because He loved people enough to warn them.
