They Just Found a Christian Artifact Unlike Anything Ever Discovered

Researchers just uncovered a Christian artifact near the Sea of Galilee unlike anything archaeologists have documented before. This 1,400 year old marble block has three carved cavities, and researchers believe it may reveal a forgotten part of early Christian baptism. The artifact was discovered in the ancient city of Hippos, also known as Sussita, overlooking the Sea of Galilee. Archaeologists found the marble block inside an early Christian baptismal hall. After comparing it with other ancient Christian artifacts, scholars said there are no known parallels to this exact three cavity design. Researchers believe the bowls may have held different oils used during baptism, but the precise ritual is still uncertain. That is what makes this biblical archaeology discovery so interesting. The artifact survived, but the full explanation did not. This does not prove the resurrection by itself, and the object did not belong to Jesus. But it does show that Christianity is rooted in real history, real places and real communities.
