In the year 250AD, the Christians experienced the most systematic persecution to date under the Roman Emperor Decius. This marked the start of the most tumultuous 50 years in the Early Church. It was an age of pandemics, imperial civil war, and suffering. Meanwhile, in Syria, a small community is worshipping in a house-church in the imperial city of Dura-Europos. To this day, the Church at Dura-Europos is the earliest archeological discovery of a Church building - it has the earliest baptistry we’ve discovered and some of the first Christian art ever created.
