There is a growing trend within modern evangelicalism to measure the spiritual effectiveness of a church through entertainment, spectacle, engagement and congregation size rather than the spiritual maturity and discipleship of the flock. In this video, I respond to clips from Ed Young and Fellowship Church while addressing the deeper theological issues surrounding the seeker-sensitive church model and performance-based Christianity. The concern is not creativity itself, but the growing tendency to replace the ordinary means God gave the church with gimmicks designed to captivate audiences.
