When Jesus cried out the first line of Psalm 22 from the cross, He wasn't just expressing pain.
He was pointing people back to the whole Psalm.
And when you read the rest of Psalm 22, the crucifixion stops looking like a random Roman execution and starts looking like prophecy unfolding in real time.
Mocking crowds.
Pierced hands and feet.
Enemies surrounding Him.
People casting lots for His clothing.
These details were written long before Jesus was crucified.
