One of the biggest questions in philosophy is this: Can morality exist without God? Many people argue that we don't need religion to know murder, theft, and lying are wrong. Christians agree that people can recognize moral truths. The deeper question is different: Where do those moral truths come from? If morality is ultimately just a human invention, then societies can redefine it whenever they choose. If morality is grounded in the character of God, then right and wrong exist independently of human opinion. Throughout history, societies have disagreed on what is moral. Christianity argues there is an objective moral standard because there is an objective moral Lawgiver.
