Who are you when the microphone is off. Most worship leaders cannot answer that quickly. And that hesitation says more than any set list ever could. You learned how to lead. You learned how to read a room, watch the monitors, count the bars, manage the transitions, carry the weight of whether the congregation connects. What you were never taught was how to simply worship when none of that is required of you. How to stand in a room with eyes closed and hands raised and nothing to carry except presence with God. That person still exists somewhere in you. But between the technical demands and the responsibility of the role, they have not had much space lately.
