Did the Church give the Word its authority— or did the church recognize what was already authoritative? Let’s get into it. They say the Church drew the canon line, Declared which books are truly divine, Not claiming they made it—but saying they defined What God had spoken—what counts, what aligns Alright—then answer this plain for me: Did God’s Word lack authority before that decree? Was it not Scripture till a council agreed? Let’s open 2nd Timothy 3:16. “All Scripture God-breathed”—that’s what we reed Not waiting on man to become what it means The Word gives life—it don’t rise from a vote God speaks with authority the moment He spoke You say your authority comes from Christ, Through hands laid down—apostolic line But how do we know that claim is true? If not from the Word—what are we trusting in you? If you appeal to Scripture to ground what you teach, Then the Word stands above every claim that you preach God has spoken—we believe Every word we now receive Not by councils, not by thrones Truth stands firm from God alone Hear His voice—we follow close Not by crowns—but what He spoke God has spoken—and preserved Sola Scriptura—Christ we serve Christ said, “My sheep hear My voice”—that’s how they know, Not “wait for a council centuries below” When God speaks—His sheep know the sound Not perfect in knowledge—but truth pulls them out The Bereans heard Paul and searched the scrolls, Measured the message, examined it all. Even an apostle was tested by the Word, Since God already spoke—they listened and heard. Peter reads Paul, calls it “Scripture”—that’s clear Not forming a canon—just naming what’s there Recognition ain’t authorship—don’t blur the line They saw what was God’s—they didn’t make it divine “Test every spirit”—don’t swallow every claim, Truth doesn’t require a Pope to proclaim. Scripture doesn’t rise when the Church gives a nod— It speaks with the power and authority of God. God has spoken—we believe Every word we now receive Not by councils, not by thrones Truth stands firm from God alone Hear His voice—we follow close Not by crowns—but what He spoke God has spoken—and preserved Sola Scriptura—Christ we serve You say, “Trust the Magisterium—final appeal, We need an infallible voice to make the meaning real.” It’s like building a court to settle every dispute— But who judges the court when its rulings need proof? You say we need certainty, something final and clear, So the people of God aren’t just left in the air. But an infallible source still has to be read, And that still takes reason no matter what’s said. If you say Rome is clear and obvious to the mind, Then you’ve already proved clarity can be recognized. So you didn’t remove the burden to discern— You just added another voice for people to learn We don’t deny that hard texts exist, But the gospel is clear no matter what you insist The main things are plain: repent and believe— God’s Word is sufficient for the ones He redeems. Now, Christ gave His Church real authority—don’t twist what I’m saying, Pastors to shepherd the flock—faithfully praying To preach and to guard, to correct and defend, To bind up the weak and restore them again A pillar of truth—we gladly confess, But a pillar holds up—it don’t authorize the text The Word is the standard—the rule that we stand on, Not something the Church can improve or expand on Councils can err—we’ve seen it before, So we test every voice by the Scripture once more Not casting aside how the elders have led, But weighing it all by the Words that God said So honor the Church—but don’t make her a throne, She serves by the Word—not speaking her own God has spoken—we believe Every word we now receive Not by councils, not by thrones Truth stands firm from God alone Hear His voice—we follow close Not by crowns—but what He spoke God has spoken—and preserved Sola Scriptura—Christ we serve
