The gospel does not make sense until we understand the problem. The Bible teaches that all of us have sinned and fall short of God's standard. Sin separates us from God because God is holy, just, and righteous. Many people think God simply overlooks evil, but a perfectly just God cannot ignore sin any more than a good judge can ignore crime. That is the bad news.
