Veric's Story | Wretch to Redeemed
God Behind Bars
testimony
April 16, 2022
“I was in prison for 14 years, 2 months, and 9 days. My testimony begins with me entering prison as a lost, drug addicted, and scared boy that was without hope. It was through prison ministry that I heard for the first time the Good News of Jesus. Then, through that same prison ministry I grew in the Lord. It is because of the many volunteers that took the time to come into the prisons that I was introduced to Christ and the man I am today. God Behind Bars and @faithpromise came into the prison system at a perfect time. It is the first prison ministry to break down the barriers of unspoken lines found in the prison lifestyle. During GBB services, you will find inmates sitting together that normally would never be seen together. You will also find inmates at these services that in many cases never feel comfortable at other services. Why is this? Because of the powerful statement made that it’s alright not to be alright. I went into prison with only my GED. God opened up opportunities for me to advance my education and wisdom over the years and I was able to earn an Associate degree in Christian Counseling, then started over and earned a Bachelors degree in Theological Studies. I also completed a self help course through Stratford Institute in Drug and Alcohol Treatment Specialties. I’m telling you this because it’s just another area that God was evidently greatly involved. It was through encouragement from volunteers in the prison ministry that pursued further education while incarcerated. Who am I today? I’m a child of God that is not only saved but sanctified and on a mission. I went from being a drug addicted, sick, drug pusher to a delivered healthy WORD pusher trying to tell anyone about the One.”
