Some worship leaders have become experts at pouring out while never allowing themselves to be poured into. And eventually the soul starts collapsing under the weight of constantly being needed. The frightening thing about burnout is that people usually applaud you while it is happening. They call you faithful because you keep showing up. They call you committed because you never miss a Sunday. They call you anointed because you still know how to move a room. Meanwhile, your inner life is starving. You are leading worship exhausted. Praying exhausted. Serving exhausted. Smiling exhausted. And because the gift still works publicly, nobody notices the damage happening privately. But God never asked you to become a machine for ministry. He never intended for your relationship with Him to exist only in preparation for other people. At some point you have to sit before God as a son or daughter again, not as the worship leader, not as the servant, not as the person carrying everybody else. Some of you do not need another conference. You do not need another opportunity. You do not need another platform. You need rest in the presence of God. You need silence. You need Scripture without sermon prep. You need prayer without a microphone nearby. Because a starving soul eventually affects everything attached to it. Full video on YouTube.
