Israel has been spiritually blinded for over 1,900 years — but Romans 11:25 says it won't last forever. What is the "until," and when does it end?
✝️ In this verse-by-verse study of Romans 11:25, Les picks up where the last lesson left off, diving into the second half of the verse: "blindness in part has happened to Israel." This blindness, Les explains, was never foretold in the Old Testament — it is part of the mystery revealed only to Paul. Using Acts 13:6-11 (Paul blinding Elymas the sorcerer as a preview of national Israel's blindness), Les shows how Israel's opposition to the Gospel going to the Gentiles triggered God's sovereign judicial blindness on the nation. Then comes the critical word: "until." Israel's blindness lasts until the fullness of the Gentiles is brought in — the completed Body of Christ. Les uses the analogy of a baby in the womb: just as a body stops forming cells when complete and is delivered, so God will rapture the Church when the last believer is added. Then he draws a crucial distinction between two Gentile timelines: the "fullness of the Gentiles" (Romans 11:25 — the Church, ending at the Rapture) and the "times of the Gentiles" (Luke 21:24 — Gentile domination of Jerusalem from 606 B.C. to the Second Coming). The lesson closes with a sobering parallel: just as God gave the Canaanites 400 years before judgment fell, the Gentile world is accumulating wickedness toward the same end.
