Not every archaeological claim connected to the Bible is credible, and Christians shouldn't accept sensational headlines uncritically. After looking further into the latest claims and hearing the analysis of apologist Wesley Huff, I've become convinced that the evidence behind this particular story is not strong enough to support the conclusions being made. Huff has publicly argued that the claims are rooted in sensationalism and non-credible archaeology rather than careful historical scholarship. As Christians, we shouldn't lower our standards of evidence just because a claim appears to support our faith. If we care about truth, we should be willing to reject weak evidence just as readily as we embrace strong evidence. Christianity has nothing to fear from honest investigation.
