Pastor Aaron walked us through Jesus’ words in Matthew 12 and challenged us to pay attention to what we are allowing to grow in our hearts. “The mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” The words that come out of us did not start there. They started somewhere deeper. When something comes out of us that we regret, the better question is not just, why did I say that, but what has been growing inside of me? God is not only concerned with behavior. He cares about the condition of our hearts. If we want different fruit, we have to invite Him to do deeper work at the root.
