“Prison Saved My Life.” | Greg’s Story | Sunday Stories

“I'VE NEVER HAD SO MUCH PEACE AND JOY IN MY ENTIRE LIFE.” ❤️ Meet Greg. Greg has been incarcerated in Missouri since 1998. His story began long before prison. After losing his mother as a baby, Greg describes a childhood marked by abuse, rejection, addiction, and trauma. By his teenage years, alcohol and drugs had become an escape, and the decisions that followed eventually led him down a path that would change his life forever. Greg was convicted of murder and faced the possibility of the death penalty. And that is when he cried out to God. Greg made a promise: if God spared his life, he would spend the rest of it serving Him. What happened next transformed everything. Greg began reading the Bible. He started studying Scripture with other incarcerated men. What began around a table eventually became a life devoted to serving others behind prison walls. Today, Greg serves as a Christian Community Facilitator and helps facilitate a Big Brother mentoring program inside Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center (ERDCC) in Missouri. The same man who once wondered why his life had been filled with so much pain now uses his story to help other men find hope. And during the revival surrounding this conversation, Greg witnessed 40 men get baptized. Greg doesn't take the credit. As he says, God impacted those lives through him. He's simply a servant. His past hasn't disappeared. Greg says he now uses the trauma, depression, anger, and pain he experienced as teaching tools to help others.
