Rehearsal With Your Eyes Closed Is Not Worship

Rehearsal with your eyes closed is not worship. And most worship leaders do not know they have made the swap. You sit down in private, you pick a song, probably the one you are leading on Sunday, you check how it sounds, you think about the key, the arrangement, the moment. And then you call that worship. That is rehearsal. And rehearsal is not wrong. But it is not the same thing. Rehearsal produces confidence. Worship produces encounters. You need both. But when one replaces the other, you feel it. You start to feel empty in the very space that was supposed to fill you. And you wonder why. Dryness in private is not a sign that God has left you. It is a sign that you have been performing without filling. Your private space became an extension of your public role. And it was never supposed to be that.
