She ran to Simon Peter and the disciple whom Jesus loved, saying, “They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we don’t know where they put him.” Peter and the other disciple raced to the tomb. The beloved disciple arrived first, saw the burial cloths but did not go in. When Peter entered, he saw the linen cloths lying there and the cloth that had covered Jesus’ head rolled up separately. Then the other disciple went in, saw, and believed. Yet they still did not understand the Scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead.
