Why was Jerusalem destroyed? According to 2 Chronicles, the people repeatedly rejected God's warnings. They ridiculed His messengers, despised His words, and mocked His prophets. Eventually, judgment came. The Babylonian army invaded Jerusalem, burned the temple, tore down the city walls, destroyed the palaces, and carried away many of the people. This is one of the most sobering moments in the Old Testament because it reminds us that God is not only loving and merciful. He is also holy, just, and righteous.
