Biblical archaeology is not just about ancient ruins, broken pottery, or old cities. It is part of a much bigger story. Jesus said that everything written about Him in the Scriptures would be fulfilled. That means the same Bible that tells us about Jerusalem, Babylon, kings, prophets, judgment, and destruction is also telling the story that leads to Jesus Christ. The same Bible that records Jerusalem being judged and burned to the ground also tells us that Jesus came to save sinners. Archaeology matters because it confirms the historical world of the Bible, and that historical world ultimately points to Christ.
