Shroud of Turin Carbon Dating Debate Explained

The 1988 radiocarbon dating of the Shroud of Turin is one of the strongest arguments against its authenticity—but is it the final word? In 1988, a sample from the Shroud was radiocarbon dated to approximately AD 1260–1390. If that tested sample accurately represents the original linen, then the Shroud would not date to the time of Jesus. However, some researchers have argued that the sampled area may not have been representative of the entire cloth. They point to factors such as repairs, contamination, fire damage, and centuries of handling as reasons to continue investigating whether the tested material differed from the original fabric. These arguments remain debated within the scholarly community. The existence of ongoing research does not prove the Shroud is authentic, but it does show that questions about the 1988 dating continue to be examined rather than universally considered resolved. Whether you're a believer or a skeptic, it's worth looking at the evidence from all sides before reaching a conclusion. 👇 Watch the full video linked below and decide for yourself.
