“Mary!” – The Moment Jesus Calls Her Name at the Empty Tomb

Mary Magdalene stood outside the tomb weeping. As she bent over to look inside, she saw two angels in white sitting where the body of Jesus had been. They asked her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She replied, “They have taken my Lord, and I don’t know where they laid him.” Then she turned and saw Jesus standing there, but did not realize it was Him. Jesus said, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you looking for?” Thinking He was the gardener, she asked Him to tell her where He had taken the body. Jesus simply said, “Mary!” She turned and cried out in Hebrew, “Rabbouni!” (which means Teacher). Jesus replied, “Stop holding on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am going to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord,” and told them what Jesus had said to her.
