People often say, "Death is just a part of life." The Bible says something very different. Death is not presented as a friend or a natural part of God's good creation. It is described as the enemy. According to Christianity, God created humanity for life with Him. Death entered the world because sin entered the world, and ever since then, every funeral has been a reminder that something is deeply broken. That's why the resurrection of Jesus matters so much. Jesus didn't simply teach people how to live. He came to defeat the very thing that every human being fears most: death itself. As 1 Corinthians 15:26 says, "The last enemy to be abolished is death."
