The translation mistakes Muslims make change the meanings! (#08)

We now come to the 4th area of mistranslated Arabic words which Murad has found in the Qur'an in his research over the last 4 years, and these are either accidental or intentional mistakes carried out by the translators, suggesting that either they were inept, or they had an agenda that they were implementing. In this particular episode, Murad points to 5 examples of mistakes he has found. 1) Surah 2:140 - Here the word "Al-Asbad" is translated 'tribes', or in some cases 'descendants'. Yet, that word does not mean that at all, but is the specific word attributed to the 'grandson of one's daughter'. Either the Muslim translators were unaware of that word, or they were simply inept in their understanding of Arabic. 2) Surah 56:9 - In this verse the word "Mashama" is translated as 'the people on the left hand', which implies those people who were going to hell. But that is not what this word means at all. It simply means pessimistic people. Was this done intentionally, or by accident? 3) Surah 21:92 - Here we come to the word "Umma" where it says "Indeed this, your religion ("umma"), is one religion ("umma"), and I am your Lord, so worship Me". This is repeated in Surah 43:32. But in Surah 6:38 the word "umma" refers to a 'community of birds' which is the correct meaning. So, why did the translators change from community or nation to 'religion'? Because in Surah 21:92 it is referring to Jews, and thus they cannot be distinct from the Muslims who worship Allah. Thus, this has theological implications. 4) Surah 17:31 - In this verse it says "And do not kill our children for fear of "poverty" ('Imlak'). We provide for them and for you..." But Murad points out that 'Imlak' doesn't mean poverty at all, but means "fawning" or "seeking approval", which fits the context better than the word 'poverty'. In Arabic 'poverty' would be "Fakir". 5) Surah 18:46 - In this verse it says "wealth and 'children' ('benoon') are adornment of the worldly life..." Murad states that the word 'benoon' does not mean 'children' but 'son's. It is obvious here that the translators were aware of just how males are overemphasized throughout the Qur'an, which is echoed in this verse. So, in order to be 'politically correct' they changed the meaning from 'sons' to 'children' so that girls would be included in this verse.
