Paul is not ashamed of the Gospel. That is a powerful statement. Think about it for a minute... when do people experience shame? Usually when they are caught doing or saying something that doesn't measure up to the statement their lives are making. There is no shame when what you say and what you do amount to the same thing. Oh - there might be conflict because of what you do and say - just ask any of the apostles who were murdered for what they believed and said. But - they were not phonies. Of all the pain they suffered for proclaiming the truth, shame was not on the list. Is your first response when you are asked to explain what you say you believe in shame and embarrassment? That should give you pause. Why are you feeling shame? Why are you embarrassed? Paul was not ashamed of the Gospel. I am not ashamed of the Gospel. Are you?
