Shuppim
(serpents). In the genealogy of Benjamin “Shuppim and Huppim, the children of Ir,” are reckoned in (1 Chronicles 7:12) It is the same as Iri the son of Bela the son of Benjamin, so that Shuppim was the great-grandson of Benjamin.

The Shuppites and Huppites were descendants of Ir, and the Hushites were descendants of Aher.
- 1 Chronicles 7:15
Machir took a wife from among the Huppites and Shuppites. The name of his sister was Maacah. Another descendant was named Zelophehad, who had only daughters.
- 1 Chronicles 26:16
The lots for the West Gate and the Shallecheth Gate on the ascending highway fell to Shuppim and Hosah. There were guards stationed at every watch.
