Ex-Porn Star on Mission to Thwart Satan's Efforts to 'Kill, Steal, Destroy' Marriages

Joshua Broome has lived in the depths of despair, pain, and chaos — but now he's a pastor who shares hope with millions. Broome, who just released a course titled "Made Whole: Healing, Wholeness, and Holiness in a Sex-Saturated World," a four-session video course and companion guide from XOMarriage.com alongside his wife, Hope, is sounding the alarm about the impact of pornography on young American hearts and minds. "The data would say the average age of exposure is 12, but I think that is somewhat skewed because I'm seeing a trend lower and lower," he said of the pervasive nature and availability of smut. "You look at the implementation of how schools are using tech. There's so many people who are homeschooling that they have utilized tech." The increase in technology usage has directly impacted exposure to porn, with Broome stating that 84% of kids who encounter it for the first time are the victims of "secondhand exposure," which means they weren't looking for it when they saw it. "They're somewhere and there's an unprotected device either in their hands or at their friend's house, and they're seeing this," he said. "It's just so wild.” He said the fact that some people are using pornography and inappropriate materials to “teach kids what sex is” is both “destructive and alarming” and should spark deep concern. Exposure to porn is impacting kids’ brains, Broome said — and it’s deeply worrisome. And it’s not only kids; Broome said adults are also being improperly conditioned. “You're teaching your brain that I need something greater than reality,” he said. “You're impacting your brain in a way that is supernatural, so you begin to desire something that … you can't replicate it naturally.” Broome continued, “All of a sudden you have an appetite that is insatiable because you can't actually obtain what you have a desire for, and you just go on this hamster wheel where you feel bad about what you did … then you do it again and you feel bad about it, and over, and over, and over again.” With these issues in mind, Broome launched "Made Whole: Healing, Wholeness, and Holiness in a Sex-Saturated World" in partnership with XOMarriage.com.
