Thirty | Knowing: Discovering Real Intimacy

I think most of us are far more scared of intimacy than we realize. Including me. My past hurts, wounds, and failings influence my desire and ability to be intimate. This has been a conversation my wife and I have discussed for years. And I am not talking about sex. I am talking about meaningful relational intimacy. I have discovered that I prefer knowing about a person, or how to motivate a person, over knowing who a person is. And maybe this is because intimacy takes effort, or our lives are busy. But maybe it is also because I am scared of being known because I am not in touch with who I am.
