Is water baptism really necessary for salvation? Many churches teach that baptism is required to be saved, but a careful reading of the Book of Acts shows otherwise. Again and again, people are saved by faith in Jesus Christ and receive the Holy Spirit apart from water baptism.
In Acts 10 and Acts 16, salvation clearly precedes baptism, showing that baptism follows faith as an act of obedience, not as the means of forgiveness. Even Paul emphasizes that he was sent to preach the gospel, not to baptize, making it clear that water baptism is not part of the saving message.
When Scripture is read in context, the pattern is consistent: salvation is by grace through faith, and baptism is the outward response to salvation—not the cause of it.
