Without a third-party standard, spiritual authority becomes dangerously self-referential

One of the most serious problems with modern deliverance ministries is the absence of any clear, biblical standard. Instead of testing claims against Scripture or an agreed-upon framework, “healing” is often defined by whatever looks healed in the moment. That turns deliverance into a subjective ritual rather than a discernible act grounded in truth. When intuition replaces accountability, discernment becomes guesswork. Some leaders assume their personal sense of spiritual closeness is enough to identify what is demonic—but even ancient Jewish tradition did not operate this way. Scripture models restraint, structure, and submission to God’s authority, not improvisation driven by personal feeling.
