You Serious? READ DESCRIPTION

The often misattributed Francis of Assisi quote, “Preach the Gospel at all times. Use words if necessary.” was like a motto for me in college. It was an introverts dream, believe in Christ but don’t actually ever talk about Him. To be fair if asked what I believed I’d say I was a Christian but that’s about as far as it went. What it really came down to was a mix of being nervous and being ashamed. Just like today the idea of saying “Jesus is the only way” will definitely get you varying degrees of pushback. I didn’t want to engage with and defend my faith, I just wanted to have my salvation ticket and wait for the train to heaven to show up. The more I read scripture though the more it became blatantly obvious that Christs demands more than warming a seat while waiting. He holds authority over all and has commanded His people to be ambassadors of the Good News that God wants to be reconciled with His creation (2 Corinthians 5:20). This is done by going into all nations, baptizing them, and teaching them to obey His commandments (Matthew 28:16-20). We must be reminded to have this mindset. You have a calling, to be an ambassador for Christ. This calling looks different for all of us but the outcome is the same. We are to be ambassadors to our families, our friends, our coworkers, the random lady at the store, the mechanic that fixes our car, and the clerk at the convenience store. As a believer there is no way to avoid this call on your life, it’s directly attached to your identity in Christ. You have been washed, sanctified, and justified in the name of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 6:11). You are no longer who you were in your sin, you’re a new creation in Christ. A new creation made to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us (Ephesians 2:10). So while it may be awkward at first and possibly filled with difficulty we are called to speak of Him. To pray for opportunities to step into to proclaim Christ and Him crucified.
