Why does the Church say those in mortal sin shouldn't receive communion? Shouldn't she want everyone to have Jesus?
Well yes, but only if receiving Him doesn't merit eternal punishment and profane His divinity.
Fr Gregory Pine explains why it makes sense that one should not receive while in a state of sin.
Receiving in sin is a common point of scrupulosity, if you are struggling with figuring out if you are in a state of grace: First, do not stress; God is on your side. Second, seek confession. Third, talk to your priest, see what he thinks about your situation, priests are a resource for all members of our Church.
