Like, the context of what was happening, the literary styles used, the book's purpose and themes, etc. These things add SO MUCH depth to the bible study and that's what I focus on today. Too often we've memorized John 3:16 or really want our kids to memorize it, but we don't know the context, ourselves! And if we don't know the context, they how do we know that we aren't taking it OUT of context?!
