Are You Prepared ? READ DESCRIPTION

There is a ton of prep that goes into preparing and preaching a sermon. It isn't about charisma, it's about character. It isn't about comedy, it's about context. It isn't about your ideas, it's about God's Word. 1. Read the passage thoroughly a number of times. 2. Understand the context of the passage as well as the context of the topic (cross-references, other mentions in scripture, etc.) 3. Ensure the flow is easy to follow and understandable. 4. Stick to the text that you are preaching on, not your own ideas. 5. Pray over the sermon, asking God to do with it what He will to change people's lives. 6. Present the Gospel Far too often we try to interject our own ideas into the scripture or make it relatable to the point of watering down what the text actually says. Pastors should be faithful teachers of the Word. Let's be that.
