In contrast to this rebuke, Isaiah 60–61 paints a stunning picture of hope: the coming glory of Jerusalem and the mission of the Lord’s Anointed. Quoting directly from Isaiah 61, Jesus declares in Luke 4 that He is the fulfillment of the prophecy—to bring good news to the poor, bind up the brokenhearted, and proclaim freedom for captives.
