Are Muslims suggesting Hafs is superior to Aasim?

Concerning who is more authoritative, the student or the teacher, one of our viewers, abdlquadri makes this claim, "There is a chain of transmission. Ibn Mujahid and others attempted to document the chain of transmission. Thus, Hafs can never be in line with any of the other 10 readers since he does not have an independent chain above them (like the readers do). This is simple enough to grasp. The reason we recite Hafs and not Aasim directly is simple. Aasim has 2 documented narrations, Hafs and Sh'ubah, who compose all of Aasim's recitation. To recite Aasim, you have to go through anyone of these 2. By reading either of these 2 you are reading Aasim indirectly". Can you see how illogical these statements above are? In other words, our friend is intimating that “You don't go to Aasim, but instead you go his two transmitters, his students, since by reading any of the two students you are reading the original one”. Hold on, this means they are all the same; so, if they are all 3 exactly the same, then why do we even need the later 2 students, and more so, why do we need Hafs? Why not just quote his reader and his teacher Aasim and have done with it, since Aasim's 'reading' is the earliest, and supposedly, as part of the original 7 far more authoritative than that of Hafs, who wrote his down around 50 years later? The fact that you have 3 names suggests to all of us that they aren't all the same. What's more, the fact that they are still being printed today, and bought by different people, some who prefer either Hafs or Shubah over Aasim, pretty clearly suggests that they are indeed quite different, and one would want to memorize the version you have been brought up reciting, otherwise just throw away the 2 students, and go directly to Aasim. The fact that we have already found 93,000 differences between just 23 of the 30 existing Qira'ats proves that none of the 30 Qira'ats are the same, and that is why Muslims still have to publish all 30 even today, so that those who have memorized Aasim don't have to re-memorize the many differences found in both Hafs or Shubah, or in any of the other 27. Yet, no one Muslim has explained why the student Hafs was chosen back in 1924, and not his teacher Aasim? Can any of you Muslims explain that to us? We're still waiting... © Pfander Centre for Apologetics - US, 2020 (44,470) epic-trailer--by-rafael-krux-from-filmmusic-io
