#22: No one, No where knew of this historically holy city?

Mecca, the city considered by Muslims to be the oldest city in existence; yet, no one has heard of it! Mecca has been a central focus for these discussions as it is understood from the Muslim Traditions to be the oldest and greatest city in civilization. It is where Adam and Eve were sent to when they were thrown out of the Garden of Eden (see Surah 7:24). So, it has to be the oldest city for human habitation, as there are no humans before Adam and Eve. According to the Traditions, it is where Abraham lived. In fact, in the Qur'an it says that he went into the Kabah, in the center of Mecca and destroyed the idols there (Surah 21:51-71). So, this city had to be in existence in 1900 BC when Abraham was living. Thus, it is justifiable for us to ask if this city has been around for so long, certainly someone, somewhere would have known about it, or at least heard of it? Yet there is no historical or geographic evidence of Mecca’s early existence at all. But even more problematic is the fact that there is a complete lack of any empire or civilization which was situated close to Mecca of ever mentioning Mecca. Surely this great city of trade would be recorded by and referred to by other significant empires who would have records of the great trade extracted from this storied city? Yet, we don't find ONE WORD referring to it in any of their annals or historical documents. There is simply no mention of Mecca anywhere until 741 AD, a good 100 years after Muhammad supposedly lived there.
