As evolutionists infer the age of the Earth, we challenge assertions that radiometric dating proves the planet is over 4 billion years old. The reliability of radiometric dating is questionable; its results are based on assumptions that can’t be proven. Radiometric methods often produce wildly inaccurate dates when tested on rocks of known ages, such as a dacite rock from Mount Saint Helens that formed in the 1980s but was dated as hundreds of thousands to millions of years old. How can such methods be trusted to date rocks of unknown ages if they fail with known ones?
