Is it God - AND - OR - VERSUS - Science?

Does religion (God) and science contradict one another? Can religion and science coexist? What about evolution, DNA, the big bang theory? For some reason, we have the idea that it has to be either God - OR - science, as if one contradicts the other, as if one disproves the other, as if they are two opposing forces at battle, and only one can win.
