Sam, from "Reasoned Belief" changes the subject and now asks Jay why we have such a problem finding any historical records for Muhammad in the 7th century; forcing us to rely on compiled writings from the 9th and 10th centuries, a good 200 - 300 years after the fact. Jay confronts Sam's viewpoint in this episode suggesting that what we have on Muhammad (the extant manuscripts for all of the Traditions) do not come from just 200 - 300 years later, but 400 - 900 years later, which blows Sam's mind.
