Gay wedding cakes, discrimination and religious freedom

Some thoughts about the current culture war surrounding the issue of same-sex marriage and laws allowing or prohibiting businesses to refuse service. Is there a way past this cultural divide in a pluralistic society? Is is possible to allow for the most freedom of religion possible while also prohibiting genuine discrimination against individuals?
