Does Complementarianism imply that women are inferior?

In her book The Making of biblical womanhood, Beth Ellison Bar shares her interpretation of Ephesians 5. She argues that this passage "can be read as a narrative of resistance to Roman patriarchy." This is something that many other authors have argued as well. However, is this interpretation correct? My friend Dianna Williams and I believe not.
