And the furless bear isn’t the only example. 33 Native American tribes point to Thunderbird traditions, with some stories describing giant flying creatures attacking or even carrying away people. From a biblical creationist worldview, these accounts point to the fact that people may have actually lived alongside creatures we now associate with the Ice Age and the ancient fossil record. Instead of immediately dismissing these stories as legends, we should ask why so many different groups remembered encounters with such massive creatures.
